On the inaugural cruise of the Mayercraft, John Mayer had so much fun that he had decided he will do it again.
On March 27, 2009, the four night cruise, called Mayercraft Carrier 2, will be leaving Long Beach and then spend one day in the city of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. According to the website for the event, this party on the sea aboard Carnival Splendor’s cruise ship will include theme nights, contests and non-stop music. Guster, the alternative rockers, is the first act to be announced. Many more will participate.
Prices per person start at $849 based on double occupancy. The cabins are on sale currently and details for the event are available on the website for Mayercraft Carrier.
Mayer is currently in Europe until the end of this month. On July 2 he will be launching his summer tour of North America at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Brett Dennen and Colbie Caillat will be joining him for the first leg of the tour, which will visit US cities across the county through early August. Mayer will also be in Toronto.
On August 19 the second leg will be kicking off in Charlotte, NC. Through the end of August the trek will focus on the East Coast. On that run Paramore will be opening a few shows, then OneRepublic will be taking over.
In addition Mayer is gearing up for the release on July 1 of his set “Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles.” It was filmed at Nokia Theater last December. This two DVD/CD as well as Blu-Ray package is comprised of three individual sets, a performance featuring the full band of Mayer, a John Mayer Trio set featuring Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan, and an acoustic performance.
The live collection is a follow up to “Continuum,” the Grammy award winning set from 2006. The album spawned “Waiting on the World to Change,” the No. 1 adult contemporary single. The latest single from Mayer, “Say,” is making waves currently on the mainstream, adult and pop charts. The song is streaming on Mayer’s MySpace page.
