A summer leg has been added by John Mayer to his tour in support of “Continuum,” his platinum-selling album released in September. This follows his two wins at the Grammys earlier this month.
Currently, Mayer is touring the Eastern part of the US. The winter trek will wrap up at Madison Square Garden in New York City with a sold out show on February 28. From April 1-12 Mayer will be in Australia before starting on a run in Canada that will last through May 1.
On June 1 Mayer will be launching his summer tour in Ridgefield, WA. Through August he will be playing arenas and amphitheaters coast to coast, including a stand of two nights at Red Rocks in Colorado.
In addition Mayer, along with over 100 other acts, has been tapped to perform at the Live Earth concert on July 7. It’s an event of 24 hours that will span all seven continents to spread the word on the world’s climate crisis.
Following the recent Grammy wins of Mayer’s for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album, “Continuum” sales increased 180 percent. The sales pushed the album back onto Billboard’s 200 chart in the Top 10.
The third studio album from Mayer, “Continuum,” marks the first time Mayer has been a producer on an album. The set, with a heavy blues influence, has spawned his No. 1 hit single “Waiting on the World to Change” along with his current hit “Gravity.”
“Continuum” follows “Heavier Things” from 2003 as well as “Try!,” his live album with John Mayer Trio, a collaboration with the drummer Steve Jordan as well as the bassist Pino Palladino.
Mayer over his career has sold over 9 million albums and won five Grammy awards.
